As a writer, when I look at the layers than can be added to suspense fiction by incorporating breakthroughs in technology and constant developments in forensics, the possibilities for plot and resolution are endless.

Take, for example, the cold case of Tammy Zywicki. After more than 20 years, the authorities are using new methods to retest the evidence in this case. It is amazing that over 200 items of evidence, and new DNA testing can be once again examined and tested with a high potential of leading police and FBI to her killer.
