As we go into this holiday season, consider those who have no place to go and no one with whom they can celebrate. During this time of family and togetherness, if you’re looking for an activity to do as a family, homeless shelters aren’t the only place where there is need. There are lonely people at nursing homes, colleges and facilities that house troubled and orphaned children and local food pantries serving the community. There is a continuing need in every community. A simple, kind gesture can speak volumes to someone who feels forgotten and alone in this world.
“You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you.”
― John Bunyan
“Every man must decide whether he will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.
“To ease another’s heartache is to forget one’s own.”
― Abraham Lincoln
