My friend, and I were just talking about how impactful Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was, and I ran across one of his quotes below (hmmmmm…maybe my phone really is listening to my conversations…).
Sadly, because of hate and the inability of the haters to understand and forgive. Dr. King was assassinated. His work in the American civil rights movement will never be forgotten, and it facilitated true change. He was disruptive, and through the protests and rioting, though his speeches where focused on equality for African Americans, he was inclusive and persuasive. He never furthered his cause at the expense of another race, religion, gender, or any other group, or belief. That’s how you change the world.
We must develop and maintain the capacity to forgive. He who is devoid of the power to forgive is devoid of the power to love. There is some good in the worst of us and some evil in the best of us. When we discover this, we are less prone to hate our enemies. Martin Luther King, Jr.
